Two Cook Islander school mates proudly received their Queen's Birthday honours at Government House, seated side by side, having first established a friendship in junior high school days. More than 120 invited guests including families, friends and all heads of ministries attended the presentation.
Chief Inspector Tearoa John Tini of Aitutaki received the British Empire Medal for his public and community services, while Tukiongo Poila Wright (Mama Tuki) of Pukapuka was awarded the Officer of the Civil Division of the most excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of her community services.
